I bought a new GE microwave in late November. As of March 5th, I have been able to use it only 4 weeks because of breakdowns, and waiting for service and replacement parts.

It is a good machine. You need to press real hard to get it going. I find the way the touch button are place a bit confusing. it takes longer to warm things up than other machines I have had in the past.

I Hope It Lasts as Long as Our Old GE

We purchased this model to replace our previous GE microwave that was well over 20 years old! We were quite pleased (and relieved) that the new microwave fit in the exact same space as the old one so that we did not have to repair or modify the wall tile surrounding it. Since it operates much the same, too, we didn't have to learn a whole new system of controls and programming. That said, they did reconfigure some of the buttons, and the ones used most frequently (Start, Off, Add 30 Seconds) are no longer at the bottom of the panel for easy access. Instead, they are in the middle of the panel and that makes them harder to find which is annoying. The interior is roomy enough to handle my large casserole dishes and the turntable helps food heat evenly. The enamel interior may be easier to clean, but it makes the interior so dark that it is hard to see. Finally, the unit overall is not as "solid" as the old one -- there's a lot more plastic. I'm just hoping that they kept the electrical/mechanical parts the same, since I'd like it to last as long as our old one did!

Our first, cheap-o, unbranded microwave lasted 17 yrs. Not a typo...17 yrs!!!! Had to get rid of it when the door handle broke and the part was no longer available! We bought this and LOVED the features, but after 1 yr almost to the day....it stopped working. But had just 10 days left on warrantee and GE fixed it...and I was happy with the service even though it took a few weeks to complete. (They should have just replaced the thing) Here I am I am about 4 months later and the same thing has happened. HowI will not pay to repair it, so how they respond will determine if I ever buy another GE appliance! But I can not recommend this microwave.

I like the feature that allows me to turn the rotation on and off. The microwave is larger than my previous one. It senses the weight of the food when cooking.

Very good microwave. We have not had it long, but to this point we are happy with it. It pops popcorn very well without burning it on the popcorn setting! I like the larger carousel and ease of cleaning with this unit as well.
