I have owned many microwaves over the years and never had one last for such a limited time.

This microwave was installed in my new home along with other matching GE appliances. After just 1.5 years, it completely crapped out. Very disappointed!

Bad on me for not buying the extended warranty.

I really don't want to buy another GE after this experience, but then again, I want the appliance colors to match.

15 months and dead.

I installed this microwave along with other GE slate appliances in my cabin. I really like the look of the slate v/s a stainless or regular black/white. Unfortunately the durability just isn't there. After 15 months it wouldn't heat any longer. 3 months outside of the manufacturers warranty. Pretty dissapointed. After reading many reviews on this microwave JVM6175EK2ES it seems this was a common theme. My appliance guy looked it over and after he did some research it would cost more to have him repair then it would to buy a new one.

Shortly before the microwave issue a stove eye burned out as well. JB860EJ5ES. Again 2 months after manufactures warranty. $90 to replace the stove eye + shipping.

Great microwave brought down by dumb express cook

I've been using this for a few weeks now and every feature works amazingly well compared to other microwaves I've had. The popcorn button worked perfectly without burning any popcorn and popped almost all the kernels. The defrost is just weight based and excellent, thorough melt. This would be a five star microwave if it weren't for the fact that it has the completely stupid express cook and you CAN'T disable it. All express cook does is make it more button presses to cook anything because I never cook at express times and I usually forget that I have that stupid "feature" and have to cancel the auto cooking and re-enter in manual time. Despite the stupid express cook, I would totally recommend this microwave unless you can find one just like it without express cook, in which case tell me what it is so I can return this one.
