This replaced a all refrigerator and I am so pleased with the way it looks and works. I would have given it a 5 but I wish it were a little colder. It not only works well it looks good "sexy"

Run away as fast as you can!

This refrigerator is far and away the worst purchase I have ever made. First unit didn't work when it was delivered. Second unit lasted 4 months before it stopped working due to what appears to be a freon leak. More than $300 in food ruined. After reading reviews on other sites this appears to be a regular occurrence. They will replace it with another faulty unit that breaks and spoils more food. Obviously this is either a known design flaw or consistently poor manufacturing.

8 Years ago I outfitted my kitchen with all Whirlpool Gold appliances. 3 yrs ago, my microwave started falling apart, a year ago, this fridge unit started leaking water and would not stay cold on a consistant basis, 3 weeks ago it broke down completley. 2 months ago, one of the burners on my electric stove went out. So I am impressed with Whirlpool Gold?? Not one bit. I have custom cabinets built around this fridge/freezer unit and have water damage to the cabinets because of it. Even when the repair man came out, he had nothing good to say about this unit. I thought i was buying high quality appliances hence "GOLD". I feel that for the amount of money, my microwave, stove top and fridge should have lasted alot longer than 8 years tops.

We moved into a house that had Sidekicks that were 2005 models, we loved them, we didn't have ANY problems. We purchased a new set and put them to use on July 14, 2014 for a new house purchase/redesign of a kitchen. On May 5, 2017, less than three years later had a service call because it wasn't cooling. We found out it needed the following:1. new compressor2. evaporator coil3. suction lineMy long time trusted appliance man said it was probably better getting a new one.I called Whirlpool and they stopped making the line. Since we purchased, they have redesigned the units and the handles will not match. So, we're unfortunately replacing both! I am very, very disappointed in the "lemon" of a fridge that we bought. It always had a rattling kind of noise and before it went completely out it was freezing up behind the middle/lower wall. The drip tray had a few strange green spots, which was probably the freon. The only reason we're buying a new set is because we designed our cabinets around having this set.

I bought this Sidekick refrigerator and matching freezer for our new home on 04/2014. Place in to service on 09/2014. I am now in the midst of my 3rd service call(11/30/2015). Thank god I purchased the extended warranty through Whirlpool.But, that is proving to be junk as well.Factor in that the food loss coverage of $250 is over the life of the warranty, not per event. Each time I am without a refrigerator for 2 - 3 weeks while parts are ordered. I lose time at work to meet the service people. This is the most basic refrigerator there is. No features or bells and whistles and it won't cool.Not to mention we have cabinets built around this unit.Worst purchase ever.

Bought new refrigerator and freezer in 2011. Fridge died after 6 months and was replaced. Freezer had a frost problem because a wire in it was not connected. 2 years after, fridge stopped working and had to force whirlpool to repair it. Was always freezing if set too low after that. Then fridge died recently, after not even 6 years of usage. DO NOT BUY!!|!
